Kazakh-German Business Forum in Astana – Tokayev and Scholz visit Hyrasia One

16. September 2024

Astana – What better way to present our project than to visit the German Chancellor together with the Kazakh President? During the German-Kazakh Economic Forum on Monday, 16. September 2024, the two high-ranking politicians mentioned our project in their speeches and also visited the Hyrasia One Green Hydrogen Project stand.

During his state visit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz took the opportunity to speak to German and Kazakh business, political and social leaders about cooperation between the two countries, including in the energy sector. “The Hyrasia One project is an impressive example of the opportunities available to us. It is one of the largest green hydrogen projects in the region and has the potential to become a real flagship project for our cooperation.” – with this statement, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz flanked our plans for the production of green hydrogen in Kazakhstan. The fact that the German Office for Hydrogen Diplomacy in Central Asia has chosen Kazakhstan as its location is no coincidence, but underlines the important role that Kazakhstan plays here, the Chancellor said, explaining the German government’s activities in Central Asia.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also emphasized in his speech the importance of the plans and investments of the SVEVIND Energy Group in the field of green hydrogen in the region of Mangystau.

Numerous German and Kazakh companies presented themselves at the Kazakh-German Business Forum and used the opportunity for intensive networking. We used the privilege of a visit by the Kazakh President and the German Chancellor to our project stand to explain the progress of the project.

Ainur Tumysheva, our Director of Investment, explained the technical details and the possibilities of the project and emphasized its importance for the German-Kazakh cooperation. “Our goal is to make Kazakhstan a leading global supplier of renewable energy while strengthening economic ties with Germany and Europe,” said Tumysheva. She added that due to Kazakhstan’s vast renewable energy resources, particularly wind and solar, Hyrasia One will harness this potential for large-scale green hydrogen production, supporting both Kazakhstan’s domestic energy security and Europe’s ambitious decarbonization goals. President Tokayev pointed out that Hyrasia One is one of the largest projects within the framework of Kazakh-German investment cooperation and plays an important role in its progressive development. Last but not least, the project also enjoys a special status in Germany, having recently become the first project under development to receive the German Federal Investment Guarantee.

Following the completion of key milestones such as Pre-FEED, the coming months and years will be crucial for the project developed by German SVEVIND Energy Group. The company is committed to reaching firm agreements that will accelerate the development of the project and pave the way for the final investment decision and the start of construction.

The interest in Hyrasia One was not only due to the visit of the two politicians. In a large number of interviews, we were able to answer questions about green hydrogen and its enormous economic potential.
