Jobs

Hyrasia One will create significant local economic value. Hyrasia One is expected to create 15,000 jobs during the construction phase and more than 3.500 permanent, new and future-proof jobs for commercial operation. The local population, especially the youth and women, will be provided with employment opportunities and sources of income. A local employment rate of 90% has been agreed from commissioning.

Trainings & Education

It is important to us to achieve a high local employment rate at all levels. To train local specialists and build up Kazakh sustainable engineering expertise, we have initiated and are partially funding a research cooperation between the German-Kazakh University, the research and education ministries of Germany and Kazakhstan and Yessenov University in Aktau: The Mangystau School for Sustainable Engineering will train young Kazakh’s to become skilled engineers ideally equipped with knowledge to work on sustainability projects like Hyrasia One.

Corporate Social Responsibly

In addition to the economic development and the training of sustainable engineers, Hyrasia One also guarantees direct support for the work of social development in the Mangystau region from the start of production.

Local Value Creation

The project will stimulate the development of related industries and services, such as heavy industry, transportation, construction and maintenance, which will increase the demand and supply of goods and services in the region. Therefore, we expect considerable local value creation through labor, construction companies, service providers, etc.

Already today, more than 10 local companies are working according to the highest international standards for Hyrasia One, for example in the areas of wind measurement, archaeology, geology, flora and fauna research, marine life studies, etc. They work in close cooperation with the Svevind Energy Group and our German and European partner companies: an invaluable experience for the companies and their employees and a prime example of knowledge sharing and building.

Development of Mangystau

Hyrasia One will require the construction and improvement of infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, railways, power lines, water pipes, and communication networks, which will enhance the connectivity and accessibility of the region and reduce the costs and time of transportation and communication.

Furthermore, Hyrasia One itself will bring major development of the Mangystau region. The project, one of the ten largest green hydrogen projects currently planned worldwide, places the Mangystau region prominently on the world map. In addition, there are potential pull effects from the possibility of purchasing large quantities of renewable energy locally – Mangystau could thus develop into a green industrial cluster in the future.

Sustainable Development of Kazakhstan

Today, Kazakhstan is still heavily dependent on fossil fuels such as coal and gas. However, the time of these fossil fuels has an expiration date: with climate change and its drastic consequences, the world is on a transformation path towards climate neutrality. Kazakhstan has therefore set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2060. With the production of green energy on industrial scale, Hyrasia One is making a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s sustainable development and to achieving the 2060 target.

While the local offtake of green hydrogen in Kazakhstan is targeted, the full amount is not expected to be needed in Kazakhstan. Therefore, Hyrasia One will likely export large quantities of the green hydrogen. In doing so, Hyrasia One is helping Kazakhstan to explore new partnerships and lines of business, putting itself on the world map as an exporter of much-needed green hydrogen.
